One of the new activities is a large digital excavation table, where the challenge for you, your friends and family is to solve one of the mysteries from the GeoCenter’s expedition to East Greenland in 2012.
Here we excavated some totally unique and scientifically fascinating bones from 4 different phytosaurs. The phytosaur was a huge, prehistoric, crocodile-like lizard, which had never been found in Greenland before! Why did several phytosaurs die in this particular place in the Triassic Period 210 million years ago?
In the summer of 2016 we returned to East Greenland to solve the ‘murder mystery’. And we succeeded!
At the new large excavation table you can work like genuine dinosaur researchers. You will dig up lots of bones and then figure out what happened.
It’s incredibly exciting - real detective work!
Another excellent novelty consists of the four excavation boxes, where you and your family can go hunting for fossils from the Cretaceous and Triassic Periods.
Here you can excavate fossils such as belemnites, mosasaurus teeth and sea urchins from the Cretaceous Period, and dinosaur and lizard bones from the Triassic Period.
They lie buried in something highly mysterious and exciting - ‘kinetic sand’. What on earth is that? Come and find out.
It’s really weird and fun to touch!
